Erik Saglia group show "Sensing Painting - Opere dalla Collezione d'Arte della Fondazione CRC"

Castello di Rivoli, Turin, Italy

Sensing Painting. Opere dalla Collezione d’arte della Fondazione CRC gathers artworks belonging to the Fondazione CRC Collection of Cuneo, collected from 2017 to the present through ColtivArte, a project coordinated by a high-profile Scientific Commission composed of Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Director of the Castello di Rivoli; Chus Martínez, Director of the Art Institute at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel; and Guido Curto, Director of the Consorzio delle Residenze Reali Sabaude.

The exhibition highlights the guiding principles upon which the Collection has been built, including the strong presence of artworks by young artists from the Piedmontese and Italian territory, attention to the international contemporary panorama, and the prevalence of pictorial works. Featuring works by 50 artists, the exhibition project emphasizes the coherence of the CRC Collection. Set up in the ceremonial spaces of the Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, the exhibition underscores how painting maintains a fundamental role as an expressive language, especially in the context of the current digital era. In contrast to the dematerialization that characterizes much of everyday life, the exhibition invites the public to an active and direct encounter with artworks, which have invaluable experiential, physical, and sensory value.
